‘Sprinter’ becomes longest running rap track

As hip hop/rap celebrated 50 years on August 11, the rap song ‘Sprinter’ by Dave & Central Cee became the longest reigning UK rap track on the UK singles chart having completed 10 consecutive weeks at the No:1 spot this week. ‘Sprinter’ debuted at the top of the chart within a week of its release on June 1. During the 10 weeks it prevented at least four other songs from taking the singles crown.

The laidback rap track is taken from the collaborative EP ‘Split Decision’ by the two acts Dave (David Omoregie) and Central Cee (Oakley Ceasar-Su).

‘Disconnect’ moves up

‘Disconnect’ by Becky Hill with Chase & Status advanced from 15 to No: 9 on the UK top 10 this week. The drum and bass dance floor track released a month ago began its chart journey at No:25. For Becky Hill working with the electronic music duo is a dream come true. The high energy hit is the second No: 1 for Hill in the UK. Her first was ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ with Oliver Heldens in 2014. The song is the 29-year-old’s sixth overall UK top 10 hit.

For the duo Chase & Status ‘Disconnect’ is their debut No:1 and their fifth UK top 10 hit. They were last on the Top 10 a decade ago with ‘Count On Me’ (No: 5) in 2013.
