Sgt. S.N. Perera wins Royal College Best Commander’s award
View(s):Sergeant S.N. Perera had the
honour of winning the best Commander’s award at the Royal College Colours Awarding Ceremony, held on a grand scale last week at the Navaragahala.
The award of Senior Cadet Best Commander’s prize was revived after a long period with a new trophy named ‘Lt. Col. Manik Jayakumar and Brothers’ donated by Lt. Col. Manik Jayakumar, the first sergeant to win the coveted Hermanloos Trophy in 1963 for Royal College.
The first winner of this trophy for the year 2022 was Sergeant S.N. Perera. The trophy was presented to him by Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, who won the same award in 1971 during his distinguish career at Royal.
Distinguished and outstanding Old Royalists and national sportsmen, Hiran Muttaiah (1982) and Krishan George (1984) graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The event was presided by the new principal, Thilak Watthuhewa and Assistant Principal and Senior Games Master M.A.M. Riyaz and the event was organised by the Prefects Council led by the Head Prefect Yuganan Baskaran, under the guidance of the staff.
