Ace Capital handed Sebastianites a surprising 47-run defeat with a day to spare in the 3-day Major League Tournament game, after Roshan Jayatissa spun a web to claim a match-bag of 12 wickets at Panagoda yesterday.

In a low-scoring game, right-arm off-spinner Jayatissa first contributed with 34 runs, which came off 39 deliveries inclusive of five boundaries and a six, the second highest individual score for Ace Capital, who stroke 175 runs after electing to bat.

But Sebastianites were soon in trouble after they lost wickets regularly, as Jayatissa claimed six scalps conceding just nine runs after bowling only 22 deliveries. They were eventually skittled out for 56 runs, still trailing by 119 runs behind Ace Capital from the first innings.

Even in the second essay, Ace Capital could not impress much with the bat as they were restricted to 105 runs, with top order batsman Sithara Gimhan making 55 runs off 61 deliveries inclusive of four boundaries and two sixes as the top scorer.

Going behind a target of 225 runs with over a day and a half of play remaining, Sebastianites lost their temperament, eventually falling at 177 runs, as Jayatissa returned to scatter six more wickets. Abishek Liyanaarachchi remained unbeaten on 80 off 142 deliveries, with six fours and a six, as he witness the rest of the Sebastianites fall at the other end.

In other games being played Chamindu Wickramasinghe (SSC), Heshan Fernando (Police), Dilruwan Perera (BRC), Lahiru Udara (NCC), Kasun Abeyratne (Bloomfield) and Imal Liyanage and Sahan Kosala (Kandy Customs) scored tons for their respective teams in the resuming week of the Major League Tournament, which was halted after July 17 to give way for the fourth edition of Lanka Premier League. Matches will end today.
