An AI Apocalypse will change the way we see life now
It is not long before humans are replaced as the smartest beings on earth by mere technology.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will join our world and humans being the smartest beings on earth will end, says Mo Gawdat, former CBO (Chief Business Officer) of Google [X] and award-winning author.
‘Mindful Solutions with Mo Gawdat’, an initiative by Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts to set forth a thought-provoking discussion on the succession of AI and the necessity of steering the said bandwagon of AI to optimise its potential and balance its use in the evolving technological landscape saw Mr. Gawdat delivering his keynote to a packed audience on Monday at Cinnamon Lakeside.
He spoke on AI, which is an area of computer science that emphasises the formation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans.
As hard as it may be to imagine, he said that this technology will be increasingly woven into the fabric of our daily lives and will continue to penetrate human lives. Artificial intelligence uses machine learning to mimic human intelligence. The computer must learn how to respond to certain actions, so it uses algorithms and historical data to form something called a propensity model.
“AI will be more intelligent than humans. It will be a billion times smarter than humans in a couple of years. The level of intelligence that will be displayed by AI will be incomprehensible.” He said that humans have the slowest bandwidth of transferring knowledge to say, another human being. AI is placed with a unique advantage over humans in this area, he added. As an example, he said that ChatGPT 5 would be smarter than world-renowned scientist, Albert Einstein. He also predicted that with the rapid advent of AI, bad things will happen, but so will good things.
He predicted a lot of job losses, saying that AI will replace many day-to-day jobs. “Artificial intelligence is the most transformative technology in the history of humanity. AI and automation will swap most blue-collar work and ‘make’ products for minimal marginal cost. Robots and AI will take over the manufacturing, delivery, design, and marketing of a lot of goods. AI service robots will do almost all domestic chores for us.”
He said there will be a concentration of power due to AI and it will give rise to many thieves. “There will be an end of truth.”
Noting that AI is the biggest wave that humanity has ever seen, he stressed that there is nothing wrong with the machines, but only the intentions behind them that humans have directed.
He predicted a hopeful utopia in the future where AI will be placed with most responsibility in our lives.
