HSBC Premier Juniors participate in an Ocean Conservation Camp
View(s):HSBC Premier in collaboration with The Pearl Protectors, a youth-led marine conservation organisation that works to protect marine life and the ocean ecosystem in Sri Lanka, conducted an engaging programme about the ocean and life beneath it, for over 40 of its Junior Premier customers. This programme focusing on marine and ocean preservation was titled ‘Turn the Tide’ and is yet another step to support climate adaptation practices amongst the next generation to help preserve the planet. The programme helped instill a sense of responsibility and awareness among youngsters who participated. The programme was attended by HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives CEO – Mark Surgenor, together with other senior management and staff.

We recognise the importance of educating young individuals about environmental conservation and being responsible towards the planet, in addition to teaching children about financial responsibility, and this programme is a step in that direction. These programmes are part of the value additions offered exclusively to HSBC Premier customers and the curated and immersive experiences that is extended to Premier juniors.”
The programme provided children with the unique opportunity to learn about several aspects of sustainable practices, such as separating micro plastics from the sand, how to clean oil spills in the ocean, identifying marine animals, separating waste into biodegradable paper, plastic and glass, and locating sea turtle nests. The participants also indulged in a unique.
The winning group was awarded the title ‘Ocean Heroes’ and a gift pack which included steel straws, reusable bottles, plantable pens, and tote bags.
