Ceremony to hand over the Karanduwa

The final ritual connected with the annual Kandy Esala Perahera is the handing over of the Perahera Karanduwa to the Diyawadana Nilame.
The Perahera Karanduwa (golden casket) is traditionally left overnight at the Adhana Maluwa where it is guarded by a Basnayake Nilame following the final night of the Randoli Perahera.
