Flood-prone Kalutara District schools closed due to bad weather
View(s):Some schools have been temporarily closed in the Bulathsinhala area, in the Kalutara District, after continuous heavy rains raised the risk of landslides and floods.
Halwatura Tamil Maha Vidyalaya (546 students), Kithulgoda Primary School (59) and Ihala Welgama Primary School (106) have been temporarily closed from Friday (8) until the bad weather conditions cease, an official from the Horana Education Zone told Education Times.
Throughout this week, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued landslide warnings to those residing in the Ingiriya, Bulathsinhala, Palindanuwara, Walallawita and Matugama divisional secretariat divisions in the Kalutara District. -NF
