Ranil to meet top biz heads in US
View(s):President Ranil Wickremesinghe is slated to meet some big guns when he addresses a major business forum in New York next week, according to political sources.
Mr. Wickremesinghe’s official visit to Cuba where he participated at the “G77 Group and China” Heads of State Summit from September 15 to 16 concluded successfully and he will join a delegation to the United States to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.
Those who he is likely to meet include Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive and Chairman of Meta Platforms, the company previously known as Facebook – the world’s largest social network.
Billionaire American investor George Soros’ younger son Alexander Soros is among the top investors Mr. Wickremesinghe will meet, the source said. Mr. Soros last December, handed over the reins of his fortune to Alexander.
A top 15-member strong business delegation from Sri Lanka will be joining the president at this forum. “About 25 top global funds will be joining this forum,” the source said.
