‘Selena’ by Asha: An exhilarating music video
View(s):Sri Lankan born songstress Asha Tennakoon, now based in Melbourne, Austarlia has release her latest song ‘Selena’ recently under ‘Saga Production’.
Asha’s ‘Selena’ video has become an instantaneous hit among all music lovers not only in Australia and Sri Lanka but amongst Sri Lankan community around the world. The choreography for the song had been gorgeously done by Roshini Dissanayake. This video released recently has already gone viral on YouTube and in all TV channels across Sri Lanka.
Asha Tennakoon has music intelligence through inherited affiliations via parents. Asha is a native of Kurunegala, was educated at St. Joseph’s College in Kegalle had followed music both singing and playing the violin for ordinary levels even up to Visharada level having passed initial examinations of the Bhatkhande music University in Lucknow India.
She had come second in the All Island School’s Ekala Kyal Ragadari music competition, while in the ordinary level class at school. After her triumph she had been selected to the Sri Lanka Army bank as a vocalist, which had refuted. Since leaving school she had worked as a Marketing Executive for two years in a private company, before moving to Melbourne for her higher education at the Hales College, where she also got the opportunity for her to endure music as a career.
In Melbourne there are many musical activities like indoor concerts in abundance, when she had met all popular musicians, event’s organisers, lyricists etc. which helped her to be involved with music having obtained assistance for her songs and music videos sans much of a dilemma. This was a boost for her music career. She has got the opportunity to singing with stalwarts Angeline, Nirosha, Uresha, Shashika, Umariya, Bachi in concerts in Melbourne. She had quipped that her husband Milan Karunanayake had been of immense value by inspiring her.
In year 2015 Asha has recorded her inaugural song titled ‘Hitha Pereda’ with her own lyrics. Her second song was titled ‘Mage ‘Aathmaya’. The music composition for ‘Aathmaya’ by Ruwan Hettiarachchi. Asha’s third song was a duet with Tharaka Mallawarachchi, the music composition was by Indrajit Mirihana, who composed music for Asha’s fourth song ‘Selena’. The lyrics were by Saman Kularatne.

Very recently Asha had sung a cover song of Upekha Nirmani song titled ‘Thawa Eka Parak’ with a music video, which has gone viral in Melbourne. The mash up had been a remake by musician Windika Maduranga. Asha thus has stamped her class as a supreme artiste.
