One of the frequent complaints regarding local councils has been that they fail to maintain proper services in their respective areas.
With the delay in conducting local government elections, and the absence of local council members too has aggravated the problem. Any shortcoming is usually brought to the notice by the local council member representing the area, but that opportunity is no longer available.
In Colombo city many name boards on the streets have faded, and in some cases they were not readable.
The public hope that at least the attention of themunicipal authorities will be drawn to address the issue.
