The Sinhala translation of Syd Field’s  ‘Screenplay – The Foundation of Screenplay Writing’ (A Step-by-Step Guide from Concept to Finished Script) which is considered to be the Bible of Screenplay writers will be launched  by the ‘Sri Lanka Screenplay Writers Guild’ on Sunday, September 24 at the Tharanganie hall of the Sri Lanka Film Corporation.

This non-fiction book and filmmaking guide which was first published in 1979, covering the art and craft of screenwriting has been translated to over 25 languages and it had had a great influence on the world cinema. The book is being used as one of the major source book for education in cinema. Sri Lanka Screenplay Writers Guild translated Field’s masterpiece based on the latest edition released on 2005.

The book will be launched at 3.30 pm today, September 24 and experinced filmmakers Jayantha Chandrasiri and Sarath Dharmasiri and academic Dr. Senesh Bandara will deliver speeches related to screenplay writing in backdrop of Sri Lankan context.

Released as ‘Ahasa’ publication, the book will be available at the Colombo International Book Fair from September 24 onwards.
