Felicitation of veteran journalist
View(s):A ceremony to felicitate senior journalist and Editor Edmund Ranasinghe will be held on October 3 at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The event will also see the launch of the book Edmundge Paththara Viplawaya (Edmund’s Newspaper Revolution). The event’s keynote address will be delivered by senior journalist and Editor Upali Tennakoon.
Born on April 14, 1930 at Bellaire Estate in Puwakpitiya, Mr Ranasinghe entered journalism in 1952 as a sub-editor of the Lake House-owned Daily News. He later went onto work as News Editor at the Janatha newspaper under Editor Denzil Peiris.
Mr Ranasinghe served as the Editor-in-Chief of multiple newspapers including as Editor-in-Chief of the Dinamina, Irida Divaina, Divaina, and The Island.
