Four Sri Lankan universities included in prestigious international world rankings
View(s):The universities of Peradeniya, Colombo, Kelaniya and Sri Jayewardenepura have been included in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Less than 2,000 of the world’s 30,000 universities are included in what is widely accepted as the most prestigious and influential global university rankings.
THE World University Rankings cover the three main areas of university activity – research, impact and teaching, and considers performance indicators across the five key areas of teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.
The rankings use data collected from surveys, bibliometric databases, and institutional data to evaluate universities holistically, capturing the full range of a university’s activities and missions.
The Colombo and Peradeniya universities have been ranked between 1,001 and 1,200 while the Kelaniya and Sri Jayewardenepura universities are ranked above 1,500.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) was listed as a reporter-status university in the rankings last year (2023 ranking), but it has improved its performance significantly this year. USJ now has a world ranking of 1,501.
