New degree programmes for students with foreign qualifications
View(s):Students with foreign qualifications can now follow the undergraduate degree in Plantation Management and Technology, the University Grants Commission (UGC) said.
The four-year (English medium) Plantation Management degree offered by the University of Uva Wellassa is among the four courses introduced for students with foreign qualifications to undergraduate courses in Sri Lanka. Data Science, Primary Education, Medical Imaging Technology were also introduced to the list of 125 undergraduate courses offered.
The annual fee for Plantation Management is US 6,000 dollars. Students who have A/L qualifications in Science and Maths can apply for the BSc Hons in Plantation Management and Technology.
The UGC said the new degree was introduced by the Uva Wellassa University by restructuring two degrees, the BSc Honours in Tea Technology and Value Addition as well as the BSc Hons in Palm and Latex Technology and Value Addition. Therefore these two courses will not be offered from this year onwards.
Candidates with foreign passports and Sri Lankan passports are able to apply for the new course.
Sri Lankan students who have studied abroad, children of Sri Lankan diplomatic personnel and those offered overseas assignments by the government too are eligible for the 125 undergraduate programmes offered at State universities.
The deadline for submission of applications for the academic year 2022/2023 is October 13.
