Father evacuated carrying only his child’s school books

Tens of thousands of people have been affected by landslides and floods in the southern districts and elsewhere. This picture shows a father carrying the books of his child while his house was being damaged by a landslide at the Diyalpe Thennapitihena village in Akuressa. The villagers were evacuated just in time by police and disaster management officers.
