Prof. Nihal Perera of Ball State University, USA will deliver the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka’s (RASSL)  monthly lecture on October 16 at 6 p.m. at the Council Room of RASSL, 96, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7. The lecture is open to all.

Modern Colombo did not evolve from the surrounding community: The speaker will first question the current knowledge on Sri Lanka’s cities, the urban structure, and spatiality in general. He will map out the trajectory of the production, reproduction, and transformation of Ceylon/Sri Lanka through colonial and post-colonial periods.

The talk will be based on his original book: Decolonizing Ceylon, which was translated to Sinhala late last year.
