As we previously advised through series of articles, the skill of an Early Childhood teacher is listed in Australia’s Medium& Long-Term Skills Shortage List (MLTSSL) under the code ANZSCO 241111. Those who are qualified with a related bachelor degree are able not only to seek teacher registration in Australia but also to live and work in Australia.

South Australia is one of only three states and territories that provides subsidised or free preschool to most children from 3 years and upwards. Accordingly, job prospects are strong in South Australia. In general, in the whole of Australia,Early Childhood (pre – primary school) Teacher is a skill listed as one of the top 20 “in-demand” jobs in Australia.

The SC 189 Permanent Resident Visa is a skilled independent visa that allows overseas early childhood teachers to work and live in any part of Australia with no restrictions. Studying in a university in South Australia entitles students for 5 bonus points towards migration making the point score at levels easy to obtain an invitation. This skill does not require a sponsorship from an employer or a state or territory government to get permanent residency though South Australian government has a very generous sponsorship scheme for international students. Thus, upon graduation the students have a choice to apply for a state sponsorship and apply for PR under SC 190 visa. Studying in South Australia also entitles students extended post study work visa enabling transition to residency a well manageable exercise.

The graduates have increased employment options as this degree prepares students to thrive as a contemporary teacher in junior primary, preschool, and childcare. Students during their undergraduate period learn with experienced early childhood teachers in collaborative learning classes, thus theyare career ready with classroom experience.

The average salary of an early childhood teacherin Australia at present is $80,378 per year. Entry-level positions start at $74,287 per year, while most experienced workers make up to $95,193 per year. With experience the teachers can secure High Paying Preschool Jobs, where the salaries could be as much as $122,500 per year.

The opportunity offered by UniSAto enrol in their bachelor degree programme through the NationalDiploma offered by TVEC where the course is conducted by POLYCAMPUS with full accreditation by TVEC with an entire year of cross credits is remarkable. Students would save close to Rs. 8.0m by doing the first year of the degree course in Sri Lanka.
