Three giants in world cinema Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DeCaprio and Robert De Niro collaborate to expose one of the heinous crimes against one of the tribal communities in the United States. Directed by Scorsese, ‘Killer of the Flower Moon’ sets in the 1920s, during which nearly 60 members of the Osage Native American tribe of Osage County, Oklahoma, were murdered after oil was found on their land, and the FBI decides to investigate.
The true story told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), the epic western crime narrates through a real love story that crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. The film shows how the white killers often married the victims before dispatching them.
