CSR project by Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya – Colombo Chapter
View(s):International children’s day on October 1 is a day dedicated to the welfare of children globally. In Sri Lanka, children do not have access to luxuries that developed countries offer their children. We often see and hear of children in remote areas avoiding school for want of food and clothing.
AAUPCC council of management at its September meeting drew attention to this aspect and decided to fund a celebration planned by Ralapanawa Janapadaya School, Nochchiyagama. AAUPCC hosted lunch for 270 children, and 30 staff and parents.
Some members and well-wishers contributed financially too.
This CSR exercise turned out to be a success, and school authorities, parents and children expressed their gratitude to our team led by president Priyath Cabral.
