The Ballet School of Colombo on November 4, presented ‘Joy of Dance’ a unique two-part concert with Hansel and Gretel as well as both classical and contemporary dances.

The evening took off in a classical ballet style, with the first act, doing justice to the original work by authors Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm. Beautiful costumes and digital backdrops brought this well-loved fairy tale to life with the dancers from the littlest performers embracing their roles with much enthusiasm.

The second act drawn more from classical ballet transitioned into a wide range of styles performed by dancers from the senior school with segments such as ‘With the beat’ – and ‘Patterns in motion’.

A tribute was paid to Sabrina Yusoof, in whose memory, the Sabrina Yusoof Foundation was created to support sustainable development  in the country.

The evening ended with the joyous finale ‘Babylon is dancing’ bringing all performers on stage for an electric number before the curtain call.
