CaNSLA leads academic collaboration efforts
View(s):The Canadian Network of Sri Lankan Academics (CaNSLA) has invited all Lankan-origin academics living in Canada to join and support an action plan in the higher education sector.
CaNSLA will initially focus on fostering academic collaborations, exchange programmes between Canadian and Lankan universities, support Lankan academics and students, enhance research opportunities, and build international academic networks.
The higher education ministry will be the coordinating body for all overseas chapters (North America, Europe and East Asia).
Lankan-origin academics living in Canada met virtually to launch the Canada chapter of the Federation of Sri Lanka International Academic Network (F-SLIAN) under the patronage of higher education state minister Dr Suren Raghavan and High Commission of Sri Lanka in Ottawa officials.
The chapter was named the Canadian Network of Sri Lankan Academics(CaNSLA).
At the launch, an interim committee headed by Associate Vice President Research (International) of University of Calgary Prof Janaka Ruwanpura was constituted to develop a plan of action within three months.
In January 2024, CaNSLA will elect a formal committee to implement a proposed plan of action. (NF)
