Life threats to Trincomalee businessman: Sinnathurai Kopalakrishnan not a suspect
View(s):Trinco police are looking for at least three suspects over alleged life threats on a businessman in Nilaveli, police said.
A senior official attached to the Divisional Crime Unit of Trincomalee police said they have identified the individuals who were involved in causing threats to businessman Selvarjah Suthakaran.
A suspect named as Nagarasa Jeyakarana surrendered to police and was granted bail after being produced in the Trincomalee Magistrate Court last month.
The Unit is conducting further investigations into the incident. The case is scheduled to be taken up for hearing on April 2, next year.
The Sunday Times published a news item titled, “Court grants bail to suspects who threatened businessman” on October 22, 2023. The report said that businessman Sinnathurai Kopalakrishnan was among two persons arrested and granted bail by the Trincomalee Magistrate Court.
However, Mr Kopalaskrishnan was not arrested or granted bail as reported, though his name was mentioned in the reports filed by the Police in courts.
