Examinations Dept. says release of O/Level results nearing completion
View(s):The G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination (2022/23 batch) results are in the final stages of being released, Department of Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara told the Sunday Times. “All the data has been entered. The deficiencies are being checked, and the final checks are in process,” he said.
The department earlier announced that the results would be released by the end of November.
The Ordinary Level Examination was held from May 29 to June 8, with a total of 472,553 students sitting for the exam.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha announced in Parliament that there had been a delay of about three months in the commencement of paper marking, and that is why the release of the results was delayed.
Mr. Jayasundara, however, said, “We started marking in August because A/Level marking was going on during that period because A/Levels started in May.”
He said there was no delay as such in finalising the results, as they take into consideration the time period beginning from the date of paper marking, which began on August 18. “Normally it takes four months.”
“We had to conduct six stages for marking A/Levels because University Academics had professional demands and they stopped marking, so we had to start A/Level marking too in August,” he said.
