Badureliya SC and Bloomfield are equally poised to record their third win of the Major Club 3-day Cricket Tournament at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona. When stumps were drawn at the end of the second day Badureliya were 122 for the loss of five wickets, needing 117 runs for a win, while Bloomfield are just five wickets away for a possible win in an averagely low scoring game.

Bloomfield, being put into bat were skittled out for 120 runs with Hasnain Bokhari top scoring with 59, while Parvez Rasool claimed six scalps. In reply, Badureliya too had to struggle for runs as they were restricted to 122 runs, a mere lead of two runs.

Bloomfield came up with an improved performance in their second essay, posting 240 runs with Nipun Karunanayeka (70) and Lahiru Madushanka (56) hitting half centuries. Chanaka Komasaru claimed eight scalps, but could not prevent Bloomfield from leaving Badureliya a target of 239 for victory. When play ended for the second day, Badureliya were 122 runs for the loss of five wickets with Ayana Siriwardena (60n.o.) and Parvez Rasool (38n.o.) helping their side rebuild from an early shocking flop. Badureliya were in a disastrous position, at 15 for the loss of five wickets, until Siriwardena and Rasool batted sensibly to add an unbroken stand of 107 for the sixth wicket.

SSC took a healthy lead of 203 runs against Kandy Customs when stumps were drawn at the end of the second day’s play of their encounter played at the SSC ground. Batting for the second time, SSC were 61 for 2, after restricting Kandy Customs for 312 runs in their first innings, in which Imal Liyanage and Sameen Kandanarachchi were top scorers for the side with identicals knocks of 69 each.

Earlier Nuwanidu Fernando hit a century while Dasun Shanaka and Manoj Sarathchandra stroked half centuries as SSC amassed a formidable score of 454 for 8 before declaring. SSC were 397 for the loss of 8 wickets overnight.
