Tinsel and Tunes, for an evening of carols and memories
View(s):Christmas music is special. Carols and songs heard during Christmas time stimulate treasured memories and inspire feelings of goodwill and gratefulness.
Tinsel and Tunes: A Family Holiday Celebration, is the De Lanerolle Brothers’ Christmas offering together with the National Unity Orchestra. For all looking to enjoy timeless carols and Christmas songs, this show has been carefully planned to kindle the festive mood with a few surprises for the entire family. It all happens on December 7 at the Lionel Wendt with two shows, the first from 6-7.15 p.m. and the second from 8.30 p.m – 9.45 p.m.
This festive concert sees some of Colombo’s leading choirs take the stage at the Lionel Wendt, along with the De Lanerolles. The PPA choir of Bishop’s College, Choro Benedicte, Metho Cantanti (OGA Choir of Methodist College), and OKTAVE with Neranjan De Silva at the organ will all lend their own special touch to the season. The National Unity Orchestra conducted by Srimal Weerasinghe will also be part of the concert
“The entire performance will be unamplified,” says Ishan so audiences can look forward to hearing the voices and orchestra at their best, the Brothers singing ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Felice Navidad’ among others. Well loved carols such as Joy to the World and Hark the Herald will give audiences the chance to join in. While the music may be familiar there are wonderful and different arrangements to enjoy, Ishan
promises.
To add to the Christmassy feeling a dress code of festive attire with a sprinkle of red is suggested.
Tickets priced at Rs. 2,000 to 7,500, with balcony tickets at Rs.1,000 are available.
