Holy Cross Gampaha emerge badminton champs

Holy Cross College, Gampaha emerged champions at the All-Island Girls’ Division ‘D’ Inter-School Under-19 Team Badminton Championship held at the Mercantile Indoor Stadium in Colombo. The tournament, conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association, was held during the last weekend of November, where Holy Cross shuttlers beat Devi Balika Vidyalaya 3-1 in the final.
On the way to the finals, they beat Bishops College Colombo by 2-0 and Hindu College 3-0. The team included skipper Sanuthi Karunaratne, vice captain Jajuthmi Dayaratne, Mihika Fernando, Amandi Anujana, Yuthmi Jayakody, Poojani Godagampala, Nethmi Balasooriya and Methusha Cabral. The team was coached by Mashsha Ekanayake and Prasanna Karunaratne with the support of Puspa Perera, the teacher-in-charge, Principal Rev. Sister Mary Darshika and Vice Principal Mary Subhasiri.
