STC thrash PoW
S. Thomas’ College thrashed Prince of Wales College by 137 runs in their opening Inter-School Under-19 2-day School Cricket encounter ended at Mt. Lavinia yesterday. Electing to field, the Cambrians managed to bowl out the Thomians to a paltry score of 109 runs, but disaster followed when they were humiliated by the home team bowlers, who combined to skittle them out for 80 runs in reply.
S. Thomas’ declared after reaching 192-8 in their second essay, leaving Prince of Wales a modest target of 221 runs off 64 overs, but were demolished for 84 runs, falling short by 137 runs, as the game ended well before the tea break.
For S. Thomas’ Kavindu Dias and Nathan Caldera stood out. Dias top scored in the Thomian first innings with 35 runs, before returning to clean up the Cambrians with a match bag of seven wickets, while Caldera
took claimed a match bag of seven wickets.
