Wet ground hampers day two proceedings
The second day’s play of the Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter between Royal and St. Joseph’s at Reid Avenue was called off without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield due to overnight rain. In the first day’s play, left and right arm spinners Damian de Silva and skipper Lahiru Amarasekera shared nine wickets to bowl out the home team for a low score of 135 before St. Joseph’s ended the day on 41 for 3.
Meanwhile left-arm spinner Naduka Nethmina’s impressive match figures of 8 for 20 paved the way for Christ King, Ja-ela to coast to a comfortable 9-wicket win over Sri Sumangala, Hikkaduwa in the match played at Hikkaduwa.
Sri Devananda Ambalangoda and President’s Kotte dominated proceedings against Taxila Horana and Revatha Balapitiya in the matches played at Ambalangoda and Balapitiya respectively.
