National Education Policy Framework draft taken up for discussion
View(s):The draft of the National Education Policy Framework has been taken up for discussion in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education. It was presented in Parliament recently.
The Committee, chaired by MP V Radhakrishnan, at a meeting last week discussed the policy report.
The draft was first discussed when the committee met on November 23. The MPs present made several suggestions regarding the draft. The amendments made according to those proposals were discussed by the Committee.
Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for preparing the National Education Policy Framework, Anura Dissanayake and Secretary of the Ministry of Education Nihal Ranasinghe discussed the new amendments submitted on the draft.
Accordingly, the Chair of the Committee said that a programme will be organised to educate all MPs about the draft.
The youth representatives assigned to the Committee also participated and presented their ideas to the Committee as per the permission of the Chair.
