SLIIT Sets the Stage for Advanced Research with MPhil and PhD in Business Administration
View(s):SLIIT, a forerunner in higher education in Sri Lanka commenced the first batch of its Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Business Administration. These programmes are approved by the Ministry of Education and are in line with the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF). The programmes provide students with exceptional opportunity to engage in advanced research across multiple academic disciplines, fostering the creation of new knowledge and encouraging innovation.
The MPhil and PhD programmes will be offered in a range of fields, including but not li mited to Business Management, Economics, Accounting & Finance, Trade & Commerce, Banking & Insurance, Information Management, Public Management, and Human Values. Spearheading these programmes and research supervision will be an exceptional team of accomplished faculty members, augmented by honorary professors from renowned international institutions, who have made noteworthy contributions to their respective research domains. This distinguished faculty will serve as guides, mentoring students and providing unwavering support throughout their research journey.
The MPhil programme has been meticulously designed to prepare students to gain mastery in conducting research and proceed towards the doctoral level by providing them with the necessary foundations in research methods and techniques. Students will be required to complete a few coursework modules and a thesis, which will demonstrate their ability and skill to conduct original research in their area of study. Similarly, the PhD programme is designed for students who have completed an MPhil or equivalent degree and wish to extend their research into more depth in the area of study. Students will be required to complete a few modules of advanced coursework and a thesis, which will make original contributions to the body of knowledge, by new methodologies, by field or experimental work, and by new interpretations in their respective fields, creating high global value.
Admissions to the MPhil and PhD programmes are now open, and interested students are encouraged to apply online via SLIIT’s official website or by submitting their applications to the Business School’s programme coordinator – Prof. (Dr.) Y. K. Weerakoon Banda.
The applications are accepted throughout out the year, and successful applicants will be notified shortly after the deadline. Scholarships and other forms of financial assistance are available to eligible candidates upon request, to help them with their academic pursuits.
