Residents living near landslide site at Koslanda evacuated

More than 25 families residing close to a landslide prone site at Koslanda in Badulla were evacuated from their houses recently.
People in the Keniyapanawala Grama Niladhari division in the Haldummulla area of Badulla were shifted to safe locations.
Badulla district Divisional Secretariat Prabath Abeywardana had visited the area and had decided to move the area residents to alternative lands in Aluthwala.
Officers from the Disaster Management Centre had been informed that the residents were moved to safe locations.
A few houses in the Keniyapanawala GN division were affected by the recent landslide, and around 270 people belonging to about 80 families were affected.
The landslide threat to the area will be monitored using drone technology.
