The Finance Houses Association of Sri Lanka (FHASL) marked a triumphant return with the 11th edition of its annual Sports Festival, held in grandeur at Bloomfield ground in Colombo. This year, 28 esteemed financial companies registered with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka enthusiastically participated in the event.

LB Finance clinched the men’s cricket title, while Siyapatha Finance secured the women’s title. Commercial Credit emerged victorious in volleyball, and CDB triumphed in netball. Moreover, B.H. Dinesh of Commercial Credit Company was honoured as the FHA King, and Sachini Gunasekara of HNB Finance PLC was crowned as the FHA Queen.

This event provided an opportunity for members to showcase their sports skills and unwind from their busy work environment. I extend my gratitude to Mr. Karunaratne and Mrs. Jayasinghe from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for their participation,”

Ananda Seneviratne, Chairman of FHASL, said.

Despite a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and economic challenges post 2019, the 11th annual FHA Sports Festival made a splendid comeback this year. Ananda Seneviratne, the Chairman of The Finance House Association of Sri Lanka, and Chaminda Prabhath, Chairman of the annual Sports Festival, led the opening ceremony, graced by top management representatives from the 28 participating finance companies and esteemed dignitaries.

Chief Guests included J.P.R. Karunaratne, the Assistant Governor of the Non-Banking Financial Companies Supervision Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and R.M.C.H.K. Jayasinghe, the Director of the Non-Banking Financial Company Supervision Department.

The overall championship title was claimed by LOLC with an impressive 275 points, followed by Commercial Credit Company at 225 points securing the second position, and Citizen Development Finance Company at 175 points securing the third position.

Chaminda Prabhath, Chairman of the FHA Games, expressed gratitude for the support received in organising the event amid post-2019 challenges.

“This year, we witnessed the largest participation from financial companies, making it a resounding success. I extend my best wishes to all the sportsmen and women who participated and achieved victories,” he remarked.
