WPRFU felicitates Governor’s Cup winning 7s teams

President Roshan Deen and the committee of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) felicitated both Men’s and Women’s teams that emerged as Cup champions at the recently conducted Inter-Provincial Governor’s Cup 7s Tournament held at the Racecourse grounds in Colombo. Both teams consisted of young school leavers from the Western Province as they emerged the better sides among the remaining eight provincial teams of the country.

The Men’s team included skipper Manula, deputy skipper Tharushan, Aaron, Sashin, Renuja, Lakindu, Denuwan, Ravindu, Sulakshana, Pasindu, Lukmaan and Kasun while the Women’s team was formed by skipper Charani Theekshana, Hashini Anuththara, Ruwani Senevirathna, Satheesha Nimnadi, Shafra Waffoor, Kawmini Illesinghe, Dewmi Rathnayaka, Kanchana Mahendran, Ruwanthi Tharushika, Umayangana Thathsarani, Kaveesha Perera and Kamanu Prematunga, the deputy skipper.

The Men’s team was coached by Randima Fernando while the Women’s team was coached by Sujani Ratnayake. Rushan Hameed, the Assistant Secretary of WPRFU acted as Manager of both teams.

The WPRFU officials who was present at the felicitation ceremony included President Roshan Deen, Deputy President Shamrath Fernando and Treasurer Amath Booso.
