OOSLA commemorates International Migrants Day
View(s):The Office for Overseas Sri Lankan Affairs (OOSLA) of the Presidential Secretariat commemorated International Migrants Day 2023 on December 18 at the Chamber Hall of the Secretariat under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Professor emeritus at the University of Hong Kong Lakshman Samaranayake delivered the keynote address.
A panel discussion moderated by senior lecturer of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Arts at the University of Colombo Dr Pavithra Jayawardena, was headed by Executive Director of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute Sri Lanka Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha, Research Fellow and Head of Migration and Urbanisation Research at the Institute of Policy Studies Sri Lanka, Dr Blesha Weeraratne, Member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Migrant Workers and the Welfare of their families, Ambassador Prasad Kariyawasam and Architect Dr Raj Barr-Kumarakulasinghe under the theme “Celebrating for a better Sri Lanka: Unlocking the Potential.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry and Chief of Presidential Staff and Senior Adviser on National Security to the President, Sagala Ratnayaka who addressed the gathering then proceeded to launch the official OOSLA website.
