Dinesh Chandimal’s impressive 61, including six boundaries and a six, led Army SC to a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Chilaw Marians in the Major Club Limited Over match played at the Army ground in Dombagoda yesterday.

After bowling out the Chilaw Marians for just 143 runs, Chandimal provided a strong start with a 55-run partnership alongside opener Shehan Fernando. He then featured in a 34-run partnership for the second wicket with Pathum Kumara. This was followed by an unbroken stand of 45 runs between Asela Gunaratne and Lakshan Edirisinghe, which propelled Army SC to reach the target in the 33rd over.

In another match, NCC secured a convincing 8-wicket win over BRC at the NCC ground. Chasing a target of 154 runs, skipper Lahiru Udara’s half century, along with valuable contributions from Niroshan Dickwella, Kamil Mishara and Ahan Wickramasinghe, enabled NCC to achieve victory target of 154 comfortably in the 17th over.

The matches between SSC vs Panadura SC, Colts vs Police, CCC vs Air Force, Moors SC vs Sebastianites and Baduraliya SC vs Nugegoda S&WC ended in no results due to afternoon rains. The match between Kurunegala YCC and Negombo CC, scheduled to be played in Kurunegala, was abandoned without a ball being played due to bad weather.
