Air Vice Marshal Ravi Arunthavanathan’s final rites today

Air Vice Marshal Ravi Arunthavanathan, former Director Administration and Deputy Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Air Force passed away on Friday.
He was a former Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.
Educated at Richmond College, Galle he had a Master’s degree (MSc) in Defence Studies and Management. He was renowned as an outstanding cricketer and joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet in 1972.
He was awarded several gallantry medals such as the Rana Wickrama Medal and Rana Sura Medal for individual acts of bravery, as well as service medals Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya, Uttama Seva Medal and Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal. His remains lie at A F Raymond’s Funeral Parlour, Colombo 8. The cremation will take place at 4.30 pm at the General Cemetery, Borella today with full Air Force honours.
