Lumbini tame Thurstan in their own den for second successive win
Following their stunning win over Ananda College last week, Lumbini MV secured another impressive victory, defeating Thurstan College by a convincing 77-run margin in the Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter played at Thurstan ground. Right-arm spinner Praveen Maneesha played a pivotal role, claiming five wickets to restrict Thurstan to a mere 105 runs in response to Lumbini’s 151 runs.
On the second day, Lumbini, starting at 19 for no loss, was supported by opener Bimsara Weerasinghe, who contributed 51 runs, helping them reach a total of 139 runs. Thurstan, chasing 186 runs, faced a similar fate, succumbing to spinner Manessha and Dumindu Sewmina, leading to their dismissal for 108 runs as Lumbini secured a resounding 77-run victory.
In other matches, Trinity and Jaffna Central also secured outright wins, triumphing over St. Anne’s Kurunegala and Revatha MMV respectively, while S. Thomas’ claimed a first-innings win over Wesley.
