Sebastianites reach L/O final
Sebastianites Cricket and Athletics Club achieved a decisive 10-wicket victory over Baduraliya Sports Club, securing their spot in the finals of the Major Club Limited Over Tournament. The first semi-final match took place at NCC grounds yesterday, where Sebastianites bowled out Budraliya for a mere 108 runs. Subsequently, Sebastianites reached 112 for no loss, with openers Thulina Dilshan and Navindu Vithanage each scoring half centuries in an unbroken opening partnership.
Dilshan scored 53 runs with eight boundaries in his 65-ball innings, while Vithanage contributed 53 runs with four boundaries and two sixes in his 70-ball knock, leading their team to a comfortable victory in the 23rd over. Despite Budraliya using four bowlers—Chanaka Komasaru, Nirmala Ratnayake, Rohan Sanjaya, and Anuk Fernando—none were able to pose a significant challenge to Dilshan or Vithanage.
While the openers navigated the pursuit of a modest total with ease, it was Sebastianites’ bowlers who laid the groundwork for the win by limiting their opponents to 108 runs. Charith Rajapaksa, Isitha Wijesundara, and Tharindu Ratnayake each took two wickets, while Dushan Vimukthi, Chamikara Edirisinghe, and Promod Maduwantha claimed one wicket each. Rohan Sanjaya was Budraliya’s top scorer, making a painstaking 27 off 50 balls.
SSC will meet Colts in the second semifinals at NCC today where the winner will join Sebastianites in the final on Tuesday.
