Kandy’s bowling trio–Chamika Gunasekera, Ashian Daniel, and Lasith Embuldeniya, collectively claimed nine wickets on day three of the four-day National Super League encounter against Galle at the Sooriyawewa Stadium.

The day commenced late due to a wet outfield from overnight rain. Galle, starting at 38 for 3, saw notable performances from Dinesh Chandimal (69) and Pasindu Sooriyabandara (67), who forged a 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Despite these contributions, Galle’s middle and late-order struggled, losing wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 205 in response to Kandy’s 365. In their second innings, Kandy reached 15-0 by the end of the day, establishing an overall lead of 175 runs. Meanwhile, in the other match played at the SSC ground, Colombo asserted dominance over Jaffna at the close of the third day. Jaffna, replying to Colombo’s 348, started the day at 81-1 and concluded at 184-6. Both matches will continue today.
