Police Officers to be offered BA degree course by USJ
View(s):A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Applied Police Studies degree will be introduced by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura today (February 25).
The University Grants Commission and the University Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) Senate Board has approved the degree.
The initiative attempts to meet the educational requirements for professional qualifications within the Police service.
The course, in the English medium, would be carried conducted by lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and visiting lecturers of the Sri Lanka Police. The three-year course would have 90 study martials and would consist of SlQF 5 standards.
Some 150 Police officers of those who have GCE Advanced Level qualifications would be chosen for the course.
The programme was created by USJ’s External Degree and Extension Course Unit, and is in line with the strategic goals of the university and regulatory bodies.
With its focus on meeting the unique educational requirements of future Police professionals, the BA in Applied Police Studies is expected to make a substantial contribution to the academic landscape.
The syllabus of the course is designed with socio-economic and political legal theory and business knowledge. -NA/KW
