Ghazali Hussain to contest BASL presidency
View(s):H. Ghazali Hussain has announced his candidacy for BASL presidency in 2025.
Mr Hussain has been 40 year at the Bar and Served the Attorney General’s Department as State Counsel for 11 years.
He has served as a member of the Wakf Board of Sri Lanka and as a member of Board of Quazis.
He has also served as Legal Consultant UNHCR, based in Hong-Kong (1993-1994); as Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (2015-2020); and a member of National Authority for the Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses (2015-2020).
Mr Hussain was also a member of the Intellectual Property Advisory Board – NIPO.
He has been engaged in both civil and criminal work in original and appellate courts, both in Colombo and outstations.
He has been an active member of the BASL and served as member of the Bar Council.
