DON GUNASENA ATUKORALA one time Chairman of the State Engineering Corporation and later Engineer at the Mahaveli Development Scheme passed away peacefully at the age of 99 plus in Sydney. He leaves behind his wife Irangani (Sydney) and 3 children Aravindi (UK) Revini and Prasanna (Aust). He and his wife were sponsored by their children in Australia and Migrated to Australia 20 years back. His funeral arrangements are being done in Sydney and will be notified later.


 

G.A.S. GANEPOLA – We announce, with deep sadness, the death of Samarasena Ganepola, who passed away peacefully on the 9th of February. He remains in the hearts of his wife Jayalatha; daughters Kumudu, Varuni, Darshani; sons-in-law Dujeepa, Sunny, Rujith; and grandchildren Dinithi, Ravindu, Shani, and Seth. Following his wishes, a private cremation was held shortly afterwards. Our sincere gratitude to all those who have supported and comforted us in so many ways during an exceptionally difficult time. “Non omnis moriar – I shall not wholly die”


 

MOTHA Leela (nee Pereira), beloved wife of the late Nazarene Xavier Motha, cherished mother of Christine (Jayasinghe) and Manuela, loving mother-in-law of Amal Jayasinghe, adored grandmother of Navin, Himanshi and Pravin, beloved sister of the late Jasmine (Gomez), the late Joe, Daisy (Gomez), the late Eugene and Chandra. Safe in the arms of Jesus on February 18. A private funeral was held at the Roman Catholic section of the General Cemetery, Borella, on February 19th 2024. STM 049453


 

EDMOND Chandrasekara Dooldeniya (1939-2024) – Edmond Chandrasekara (Chandra) Dooldeniya, 85, passed peacefully on February 13th, 2024, with his beloved wife Manel at his side. Chandra and Manel celebrated 54 years of marriage last June. During his 30+ year career, he worked at Sri Lanka Tyre Corporation and The Mahaweli Development Authority. Chandra was an avid gardener and was a participant in the Dehiwela-Mt.Lavinia Horticultural Society helping to organize many of their plant exhibitions. He loved to draw and paint and pursued creative activities until the end. Chandra is survived by his wife, Manel; son and daughter-in-law, Chanaka & Wendy; daughter and son-in-law, Piumi & Yugantha; grandsons Dulhan & Yevin; granddaughters Arailya and Rowan and brother Shirley and sisters Kusum, Srimathie, Enid and Dora. Weerasinghe and late Mrs.Somawathi Weerasinghe, Wife of late Mr. W.P.Chandrasekera, mother of Janaka, Bandula, Shayamalie, Manohari and Anuruddha and Mother-in-law of Saumya, Kishani, Premlal, Bandula and Kamani and Grandmother of Anuradhi, Preaveeni, Pradeepani, Damath, Anoop, Dasuni and Rowinya. Expired ater a brief illness. Cortege leaves A.F.Faymond’s Funeral Parlour at 2.00pm. For cremation on Sunday, 25th February 2024 at 2.30pm. at the Borella General Cemetery.
