Prasanna’s ‘Paradise’ nominated for four Asian Film Awards

Sri Lanka-India co-production drama film has been nominated for the Best Film, Best Director and the Best Screenplay for Prasanna Vithanage and Anushka Senanayake and the Best Editor for A. Sreekar Prasad.
Presented by Mani Ratnam under his Madras Talkies banner and produced by Newton Cinema, ‘Paradise’ stars Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran from Indian cinema joined by Shyam Fernando and Mahendra Perera from Sri Lanka.
Along with Prasanna, other internationally renowned directors Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Kore-Eda Hirokazu, Gu Xiaogang and Matsunaga Daishi will attend the screenings and the discussions.
Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy in collaboration with Broadway Cinematheque, ‘Paradise’ will be competing at the Asian Cinerama, 17th Asian Film Awards Selection.
‘The Asian Film Awards, an annual prestigious event celebrating Asian cinema, brings film talents from all over the world together, promoting Asian film culture to the world, while also facilitating exchanges between cinephiles and filmmakers’ the festival announced referring to “Asian Cinerama” selection.
The Asian Cinerama features some of the Best Film nominated movies including South Korean historical action drama film directed by Kim Sung-s ‘12.12: The Day and Japanese drama film written and directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. ‘Evil Does Not Exist’.
The other selections are ‘Dwelling by the West Lake’, ‘Monster’ (both receiving three nominations), ‘City of Wind’ (nominated for Best New Director and Best Newcomer), and ‘Trouble Girl’(nominated for Best Actress).
Financially supported by Create Hong Kong and the Film Development Fund, screenings will be held from March 7 to 11 at Broadway Cinematheque, Premiere Elements and Movie Cityplaza.
