IORA Day at Galle Face today

Preparations are underway at the Galle Face Green to mark Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Day today under Sri Lanka’s chairmanship of the grouping.
Hundreds of schoolchildren will be participating in the event jointly organised by the Foreign and Education Ministries with the support of the diplomatic community from member states of IORA.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected at the celebrations, along with IORA Secretary General Salman Al Farisi from Indonesia.
A carnival-like atmosphere is expected as the organisers aim to educate schoolchildren on the significance of the Indian Ocean. The tri-forces and the police are also partners in the event.
Several prizes will also be distributed to the winners of the all-island art, essay and social media competitions. The Funday Times, the Sunday Times’s children section, and Wijaya are the media partners of the event.
