E B Creasy Solar’s solar-powered irrigation project in Nikaweratiya

E B Creasy Solar recently completed a landmark project in the Nikaweratiya area, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), utilising cutting-edge German Lorentz solar-powered water pumps.
This project is set to revolutionise water accessibility, for both irrigation and consumption, promising to pump 1 million litres of water per day, powered entirely by solar energy without using fuel or grid electricity. Amidst fluctuating economic conditions and rising costs of fuel and electricity, these pumps will help ensure that farmers will have consistent access to water, affordably, the company said in a media release.
Accordingly, this initiative is helping to transform the lives of farmers in Nikaweratiya, a key agricultural region, who have faced significant challenges due to water scarcity. The project aims to provide water to 90 per cent of the farmers in the village, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards sustainable agriculture. By harnessing the power of the sun, E B Creasy Solar is also helping to promote sustainable prosperity and environmentally friendly agricultural practices in the region.
