Plans have been made to update the information technology (IT) curriculum in government schools, the Education Ministry said.

The pilot project would commence on Tuesday (19) Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He added that arrangements have been made as part of the pilot project to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and IT into the State-school system for Grades 8-13.

Minister Premajayantha said the Microsoft Corporation and the Ministry have teamed up to offer the support required.

He added that teaching subject knowledge in accordance with worldwide standards will be possible with the introduction of the new IT Curriculum.

“It is crucial to impart modern technical knowledge to children when implementing changes in the field of education particularly in the domains of AI, genetic engineering, biotechnology, and nanotechnology,” the Minister noted. -NA
