Sri Lanka condemns attack in Moscow, condoles loss of lives
View(s):Sri Lanka strongly condemned the terrorist attack that occurred at the Crocus City shopping centre in Moscow, Russia, on Friday, causing the loss of civilian lives and injuries.
“Such cowardly acts of violence against civilians are abhorrent and have no place in civilised society,” a statement by the Foreign Ministry said.
“The government and the people of Sri Lanka extend their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people, and the government of the Russian Federation at this time of grief.
“Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be unequivocally condemned and eradicated. Sri Lanka reaffirms its commitment to the global fight against terrorism and stands ready to collaborate with the international community to address this grave threat to peace and security.”.
The Government of Sri Lanka wishes all those who were injured a speedy recovery, the statement added.
Meanwhile, State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon expressed his condolences for the loss of lives.
“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Moscow, Russia. Such cowardly acts of violence only serve to destabilise peace and sow fear. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. Terrorism has no place in our world’,” he said in a message posted on ‘X’.
