USA Spring 2024 Intake – Orientation

Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS) recently hosted a dynamic student orientation event, welcoming new students and staff to the institution. Led by Mr. Terrence Philip, Senior Manager of Enrollment, the orientation kicked off with a warm introduction, setting the tone for an engaging session.

Dr. Alan Robertson, Dean of Studies, provided an insightful overview of university studies, while Mr. Charles Dirk Binder, Articulation Officer of NCHS, offered valuable insights into general education and life in the USA.

Ms. Bavani Dinesh Kumar, Registrar, shed light on important procedures at the Registrar’s office, followed by Ms. Poornima Weerasinghe, Associate Dean, who addressed student success, academic progression, and discipline matters. Mr. Tharindu Madusanka, Senior Manager of Academic Administration, outlined class schedules and assessment procedures, ensuring students were well-informed. Ms. Sharada Athapaththu, Assistant Lecturer at the NCHS Language Centre, discussed English language support, crucial for international students.

Ms. Dilishia Fernando Manager of Student Placement and Visa, provided comprehensive guidance on visa processes, facilitating smooth transitions for international students.

Ms. Marisa Jarkie, Assistant Manager of Student Services, introduced students to their guidance counsellors, emphasising the institution’s commitment to student support and well-being. Concluding the event, Mr. Dinuka Dias, Senior Marketing Executive, highlighted the role of the Student Council in fostering student engagement and enhancing the NCHS experience.

The orientation event was a resounding success, equipping students and staff with essential information and resources for a successful academic journey at NCHS.
