SLFP headquarters sealed; charges of missing files
View(s):The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) headquarters was sealed off yesterday, designating the area as a ‘crime scene’ after a senior party member complained that important files had gone missing.
A Maradana Police senior officer said that security had been stepped up around the party headquarters at Darley Road, and investigations were in progress as they were also collecting fingerprints.
The police investigation was launched following a complaint by Acting General Secretary Dushmantha Mithrapala on Friday.
The complaint came after Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, and Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake held a media conference following a court order they obtained against their removal from the party positions.
Mr. Alagiyawanna said that although a claim had been made that files had been removed from the party headquarters, they had not named the files that had gone missing.
