From The 70’s to The Generation New
View(s):The most veteran and senior still existing two Western bands in Sri Lankan showbiz scene, ‘The Gypsies’ and ‘Rajiv And The Clan’ will come alive together in Concert after a long gap on 28th April at 7.00 pm at Musaeus College Auditorium. Sohan Weerasinghe, Ishaq Baig, Keerthi Pasqual and Falan Andrea are billed to perform as guest artistes. Veteran dance maestro Chandana Wickramasingha will add the additional glamour with his choreography.
This spectacular event is presented in aid of charity by ‘The Lions Club District 306 C2’ and Co-Organised by District Governor and Cabinet Officers, Past District Governors Association, Lion Ladies Association plus Leo District and Key Officers.
‘New look Gypsies’ now led by brother Piyal and is back in the saddle again with many dances, weddings, gigs and many overseas tours.
‘It is really good to see the music industry is getting back to its usual rhythm. The band is now on the move with many new ventures. Hope everything will settle by the end of this year’ said Piyal.
The present line-up comprises Piyal Perera (leader/ percussion/vocals), Lal Witiwala (drums), Monique Wille (vocal) Laksiri Ranga (bass), Ranuka Prabhath (guitar) Shenal Nissanka (guitar/ vocals) and Ravi Terrence (keyboards).
Rajiv and his band ‘The Clan’ are certainly big too in the scene here, and the boys have celebrated their 30th anniversary last year.
‘We are so excited to perform with the Gypsies and are really looking forward to see an explosion as Sohan, Ishaq, Keerthi and Falan along with Gypsies will be on stage after a long period’ said Rajiv.
